Skills Assessments at Unity ABA
Evidence-Based Assessment Tools We Use
Vineland-3 Adaptive Behavior Scales
Used to measure communication, daily living, and socialization skills. This parent-report and interview tool helps our team understand how your child functions across home, school, and community settings.
Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLS)
Evaluates self-help, hygiene, and daily independence skills. AFLS guides our goal-writing process for increasing autonomy at home and in the community.
Socially Savvy Assessment
Measures social awareness, play, communication, and self-regulation. This tool helps identify social skill deficits and guides intervention in peer interactions and emotional control.
Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP)
For early learners, VB-MAPP helps track language, imitation, and play development, and informs early intervention strategies.
How Assessments Work
-
Parent Interview:
We begin by gathering developmental history, current challenges, and family priorities. -
Observation Sessions:
Our clinicians observe your child in natural and structured environments. -
Standardized Testing:
Depending on your child’s age and needs, we administer one or more of the assessments above. -
Comprehensive Report:
You’ll receive a clear, written report outlining results and specific treatment recommendations. -
Collaborative Review:
We review results with your family to ensure you understand next steps before therapy begins.
Why It Matters
Accurate assessments lead to effective treatment. By understanding exactly where your child is developmentally, we can target meaningful skills that build independence, confidence, and long-term success.
